When working on the design of the Body Science Gradient Compression Garment, muscle
shaping was utilised to take into account the most common Soft Tissue Injuries
that occur in the majority of athletic pursuits (both contact & non contact
pursuits).
The Gastrocnemius and the Soleus form what is more commonly known as the Calf
Muscles, responsible for plantar flexion of the foot. In sporting situations
these muscles become fatigued and ruptures are common at the point where the
Achilles tendon merges with the belly of the Calf muscle. The cut of the Body
Science Gradient Compression Garment assists in compression of this area aiding
in enhanced circulation, lactic acid removal, keeping muscles warm without overheating,
increased oxygen flow, reduced muscle vibration, reduces delayed muscle soreness
and reduced muscle and ligament strain by keeping muscles in line and at optimal
positions and finally aids recovery after exercise.
The Hamstrings consist of 3 muscles, 2 on the inside of the thigh called the
Semitendinosus and the Semimembranosus with 1 on the outside of the thigh called
the Biceps Femoris. These muscles are responsible for flexion of the knee and
extension of the thigh and are often injured when inadequate warm ups are performed
and also when kicking to the front, therefore special attention was given to
this area when designing the cut of the Body Science Gradient Compression Garment.
It also assists in compression of this area aiding in enhanced circulation,
lactic acid removal, muscles kept warm without overheating, increased oxygen
flow, reduced muscle vibration, delayed muscle soreness and muscle and ligament
strain by keeping muscles in line and at optimal positions and finally aids
recovery after exercise.
The Quadriceps are made up of 4 muscles, the Rectus Femoris which crosses both
the hip and knee joint and Vastus medialis, Vastus Intermedius and Vastus lateralis
which act on the knee joint only. They all aid in extension of the leg and flexing
the thigh. Many problems with knees can be traced back to faulty alignment of
these muscles through training techniques or inadequate stretching. The Body
Science Gradient Compression Garment has been specifically cut to assist in
compression of this area aiding in enhanced circulation, lactic acid removal,
muscles kept warm without overheating, increased oxygen flow, reduced muscle
vibration, delayed muscle soreness and muscle and ligament strain by keeping
muscles in line and at optimal positions and finally aids recovery after exercise.
The Adductors or Groin consist of 4 muscles, the Pectineus Adductor, the Adductor
Brevis, the Adductor Longus and the Adductor Magnus. These are responsible for
Adduction, hip flexion and lateral rotation of the thigh. Groin Strains are
common with these muscles. They become hypertonic with over-use and when stretched
often tear. When designing the Body Science Gradient Compression Garment special
attention was given to these muscles to aid in compression of this area - assisting
in enhanced circulation, lactic acid removal, keeping muscles warm without overheating,
increasing oxygen flow, reducing muscle vibration, delaying muscle soreness
and muscle and ligament strain by keeping muscles in line and at optimal positions
and finally which aids recovery after exercise.
By incorporating this knowledge of muscle shape and function and adding the
other previously mentioned advanced functions has assisted us in developing
a far superior Garment.
GRADIENT COMPRESSION GARMENT Follows a simple but very effective mechanism:
the muscles
- Ergonomically patterned to male anatomy
- Enhanced circulation
- Aid lactic acid removal
- Increase flow of oxygen
- Reduce muscle vibration
- Reduce delayed muscle soreness (DOMS)
- Reduce muscle and ligament strain by keeping muscles in line and at optimum
position
- Aid recovery after exercise
- Keep muscles warm without overheating
